Join us as we explore the unique benefits and characteristics of Learning Assistant (LA) Programs as well as the positive impact LA programs have on students’ transition to college. Participants will learn about best practices for incorporating LAs into a variety of classroom environments and explore strategies for effective faculty mentorship of LAs.  There will be opportunity to explore the pedagogy requirements of the LA model as well as time to meet and talk with experienced LA program leaders, faculty mentors, and student LAs. 

This workshop is for practitioners who either teach with Learning Assistants or want to teach with Learning Assistants in an inclusive classroom environment. Participants are encouraged to present a poster related to their experiences working with LAs. LA Program directors or support administrators are welcomed to participate to help inform their practice supporting LA Faculty, though the workshop focus is on LA-supported courses. 

Faculty sessions will focus on how to: 

  • build a safe environment for student interaction,
  • use materials that facilitate active engagement, 
  • run weekly prep meetings with their LAs, 
  • learn about using LAs effectively in their institutional context, 
  • assess the impact their LA has on their class.

TRANSFERS, REFUND POLICY, AND SERVICE CHARGES
Transfers and refunds will be allowed for no extra charge by February 15 at midnight EST. February 15-22 there will be a $40 processing fee on all transfers and refunds. No refunds after February 22.
